Is
shark diving safe? |
 |
To date we have enjoyed a 100% operational record. This is not true for some other operations on site at Isla Guadalupe who claim a 100% safety record and whose You Tube videos show sharks ripping apart their cages in 2007. Check first before you book. Shark Diver remains committed to Safe and Sane Shark Diving TM, it's a way of doing shark dive operations right, the first time, every time.We do not use our cage systems as additional entertainment. Provoking these magnificent animals into smashing into a shark cage is not why we and hopefully, you, are here. Sharks in general have
many myths surrounding them; one is that they are killing machines
attacking anything in sight. We have found that even at the height
of a feeding event with multiple animals on site, sharks prove to be cautious predators. That's not to say
divers should not always maintain a healthy respect for these awesome
predators; in and out of the water! |

Do
I need qualifications to dive? |
 |
Other than being reasonably physically fit, you don't have to be
an expert diver to cage dive with us at our Isla Guadalupe white shark dive site. For non-divers joining
us this season, you will be required to attend a one-hour onboard
cage diving presentation. Comfort in the water is a must. We strongly suggest that non divers take an "Intro to Diving" class at your local dive shop prior to joining us at our white shark dive site.Tiger Shark encounters in the Bahamas do require
certification. |
|
|
 |
What
if I am not certified for Great Whites? |
 |
You
have two options:
a) We will
send you down with a qualified instructor; it is up to him/her to make
a final decision about your continued dives with us. Usually with some minor prep work this is not an issue.
b)
You will be able to join us as on board cameraman,
for amazing topside feeding images. |

Do
the sharks ever attack the cage? |
 |
As a general rule no, they do not. We do not entice sharks into cages nor do we seek hard shark interactions. As some operations have discovered sharks can be unforgiving if you do not adhear to strict shark diving protocols. We do-and it's our foremost consideration when you dive with us.That's not to say we have not had several exciting events you may have seen on our website where frisky animals have turned and nibbled on the shark cages. This happens once in a while, expect very close passes within 12 inches. |

|
 |
How
big are the white sharks? |
 |
Isla
Guadalupe Great Whites are primarily transitional sub-adults, 12 -
16 feet in length - sleek, fast, and beautiful. We also encounter
Pacific Short Fin Makos on very rare and very special occasions. Later in the season we encounter much larger sharks upwards to 18 feet. We call this "The Time of the Titans". Late season sharks also come with a better chance of poor weather on site so you need to take that into consideration when making your shark diving choice with us. In 2009 our primary focus will be on peak season dates to maximise your chances of quality interactions with these animals. |

 |
Is
cage diving always possible? |
 |
On
occasions adverse weather may prevent safe cage diving operations.
Our experienced dive operations managers will make the decision when he or she feels that your dive safety may be at
risk. We may move to a better location or even cancel the weeks trip
and reschedule another trip as soon as the weather improves. Safety
is always our first priority. We will never "push the envelope" at any shark site when it comes to your safety or your loved ones safety. In the many years we have been at Isla Guadaluoe we have canceled on expedition. |
|
|
 |
How
far in advance do I have to book? |
 |
We
suggest that you book your expedition with us as soon as possible
to guarantee yourself a spot on any of our fleet boats for limited expeditions to this incredible and pristine Great
White Shark site. Worldwide attention has grown for Isla Guadalupe
over the past eight years, and we are experiencing record interest again this year! |

|
 |
Is
there a refund if we do not see sharks? |
 |
Yes
and no. While we do not offer cash refunds, if in the unlikely
event you get "skunked" (no sharks) you will receive
an immediate $500 gift certificate for use on your next expedition
with us. We will do everything in our power to get you to our
White Sharks and Tigers. We only run operations in high season, we know when
and at what times the sharks are feeding and have the benefit
of the world's most productive pristine shark sites to operate
in. If we have to cancel an expedition due to weather, you will
also get a gift certificate good for two years on a return trip. |
